THE FEEL

Webster Groves has a mix of people, and it shows. Students, young families, and empty-nesters all call Webster Groves home. While it is a neighborhood of tradition, with historic homes from post-war ranch styles to spacious Victorian architecture, it is also a progressive community with newer homes and condos. A number of independent shops and business also give some parts a more contemporary city vibe.

In 2008, Webster Groves ranked ninth in Family Circle Magazine's list of the "Ten Best Cities for Families" in America.

HISTORY

Webster Groves' location on the Pacific Railroad made it blossom into a suburb in the 19th century. City residents, seeking a cleaner, more peaceful country setting began building homes here— and never stopped. The town itself is named for Daniel Webster, and for the many trees in the area, “groves.”

ACCESSIBILITY

Just 20 minutes from downtown by Interstate 44 and near the Amtrak station in Kirkwood, Webster Groves is easily accessible by car and public transportation.

CULTURE

The website Explore Webster Groves has the skinny on arts and entertainment in this vibrant suburb. It boasts world-renowned galleries and popular annual festivals featuring local and regional talent, such as Paint Webster, Art & Air, and many others. Webster Groves was also named Missouri’s “Creative Community for 2013”, placing it among the top cultural centers in the state.

Theatre is also alive and well here; The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis and Opera Theatre of St. Louis both call Webster University’s Loretto-Hilton Theater home. Nerinx Hall’s Heagney Theatre also stages regular shows.

ENTERTAINMENT
